Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s camp has allegedly received an intelligence report regarding a new operation against him, they said on Thursday.
In an ambush interview, Atty. Israelito “Bobbet” Torreon said both the Senate and their camp would be in a pitiful state if they confirmed the senator was still inside Senate premises, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort.
“Kasi mayroong intelligence report na mayroon na namang operation. See, if we will confirm na nandiyan siya, kawawa naman kami. Kawawa naman ‘yung Senado, I hope you understand. Kaya nga lawyer-client privilege po,” Torreon said.
Furthermore, they declined to comment on reports that Dela Rosa was sighted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Another lawyer for Dela Rosa, Atty. Jimmy Bondoc also refuted the report that the shooting incident on Wednesday night had been staged by their camp.
“Definitely not staged, unless it was by another party. It was definitely not staged by us, nor by Alan Cayetano’s camp, although I cannot speak for them. Pero definitely not by our side,” Bondoc told reporters.
Moreover, Bondoc stressed that they heeded President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call against chaos from any concerned party.
He also assured Dela Rosa’s supporters that the senator was alright.
According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Senator Dela Rosa has no recent travel records.
The bureau has yet to issue orders if the senator, who has been issued an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC), should be spotted at the airport.
On Monday, former Senator Antonio Trillanes, accompanied by agents from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) attempted to serve Dela Rosa an arrest warrant from the ICC in connection with the latter’s supposed role in the implementation of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s notorious Drug War.
On Wednesday night, gunshots rang through the halls of the Senate building during a majority caucus. The shooter has been identified as a driver for the NBI.
