The driver accused in the latest “gas-and-run” incident in Quezon City will still face charges despite surrendering to authorities on Wednesday evening, May 6.
According to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa on “MBC TV Network News,“ the suspect, who was driving a Toyota Vios, surrendered at around 10 p.m. following an investigation by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The incident happened at around 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, at a gasoline station along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Bahay Toro, where it was captured on the station’s CCTV cameras.
According to authorities, the suspect allegedly refueled gasoline worth ₱1,500 before leaving the station without paying.

During a press briefing at Camp Crame, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the gasoline station attendant and the management of Unioil remained determined to file estafa charges against the suspect despite his surrender.
Tuaño added that the QCPD would also coordinate with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to seek the cancellation of the driver’s license after it was discovered that he had previously been involved in a reckless driving incident in October 2025.
The suspect apologized to authorities and claimed he had forgotten to pay because he was arguing with his wife over the phone while refueling.
“Ito naman ay sinusundan ng affidavit nung gas attendant na ito ay may kaaway sa cellphone niya. Ito naman ay kinumpirma base doon sa investigation ng kaaway niya ay yung kanyang maybahay sapagkat siya ay pinapauwi na sila ay nanggaling sa isang party,” Tuaño said.
The gasoline station attendant immediately reported the incident to authorities, prompting the QCPD to issue a flash alarm and launch an investigation.
Police said the suspect initially avoided authorities out of fear before investigators traced the registered plate number of the vehicle to Nueva Ecija.
The latest incident raised the number of reported gas-and-run cases in Quezon City to four.
In January 2026, an unregistered motorcycle fled after refueling ₱800 worth of gasoline at a station along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit. In March 2026, a white SUV also left without paying after refueling ₱2,200 worth of diesel along E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue in Barangay Doña Imelda. Suspects in both incidents remain at large.
The third case was reported in April 2026 in Payatas, where suspects allegedly fled from a gas station along Payatas Road in Barangay Bagong Silangan without paying for around ₱1,500 worth of fuel. Two suspects were arrested, while one remains at large.
