Police have arrested two suspects while one remains at large following a “gas-and-run” incident at a gasoline station in Payatas Road, Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the arrested suspects only as “Tyron” and “Ricky,” who were allegedly involved in fleeing a gas station without paying for approximately ₱1,500 worth of fuel.
According to the QCPD, the incident occurred at around 3:10 a.m. on April 20, 2026.
CCTV footage showed a white Toyota Vios leaving the station after refueling without settling the bill, prompting the station attendant to report the incident to authorities later that morning.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed that the arrests were made through coordinated follow-up operations using CCTV footage and inter-agency coordination.
“Subsequent follow-up operations resulted in the identification and arrest of two suspects, while a manhunt continues for another individual to ensure full accountability,” the NCRPO said in a statement.
Charges of estafa are being prepared against the suspects, who will be referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings, police said.
The QCPD said the two suspects were later arrested in separate operations at their residences in Rodriguez, Rizal, hours after the incident. A third suspect, whose identity has not been fully disclosed, remains the subject of a manhunt.
NCRPO officials emphasized that even minor offenses will be pursued.
“Walang maliit na paglabag sa batas. Ang ganitong uri ng panlilinlang ay agad naming tinutugunan gamit ang teknolohiya at masusing imbestigasyon,” NCRPO chief Anthony Aberin said, adding that authorities will continue to strengthen visibility and rapid response to prevent similar incidents.
The case comes amid a similar incident reported last month involving a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver who allegedly fled a gas station in Quezon City after refueling more than ₱5,000 worth of fuel.
