Social media personality and entrepreneur Josh Mojica has released a public apology following a viral video that showed him filming with his phone while driving along EDSA.
In a Facebook post, Mojica said he was taking full responsibility for his mistake, but urged his young audience to emulate the “grind” that earned him the milestone he had been celebrating when he took the video while behind the wheel of a brand new Porsche.
“But even in moments of celebration, we have to stay sharp. I slipped. I’m learning from it. And I’m owning it like a man,” Mojica wrote.
“To the youth watching: Don’t copy my mistake. Don’t copy the driving. Copy the mindset. Copy the grind. Copy the fact that I earned that car, not the way I held the phone inside it,” he added.
In an interview on Dos Por Dos, Land Transportation Office (LTO) Executive Director Atty. Greg Pua said the agency has yet to receive an official statement from the content creator since he was issued a show cause order, directing him to explain why legal action should not be taken against him.
“Wala naman po tayong pinapalampas, basta tayo napag-alaman po natin ‘yung mga possible na nag-violate po ng ating traffic laws. Fino-focus po natin agad iyan at pinagpapaliwanag natin (ang mga offender) … kung dapat ba silang magpatuloy pa na magkaroon ng pribilehiyo na magkaroon ng lisensya,” Pua told DZRH.
(We let nothing slide, whenever we find out about possible traffic violations. We focus on these and order the offenders to explain why they should maintain the privilege of possessing a license.)
Mojica’s hearing will be on July 10, at 1 p.m.
