Philippine gymnastics standout Karl Eldrew Yulo concluded his impressive debut on the senior international circuit this past Sunday, finishing eighth in the horizontal bar finals at the 2026 Gymnastics World Cup.

Performing in a high-stakes field during the Croatia leg of the series, the younger Yulo posted a score of 13.366. While the result placed him outside the podium positions, the 18-year-old remained optimistic about his performance and the steep learning curve of senior-level competition.

Despite the eighth-place finish, Yulo’s camp emphasized the long-term gains of competing against the world’s elite.

The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines noted that Eldrew remains gracious and positive despite missing the podium, viewing this run as a valuable lesson to carry with him as he further sharpens and perfects his skills.

Yulo’s performance in Croatia was the final chapter of a highly successful breakthrough series. Stepping out from the shadow of his older brother, world champion Carlos Yulo, Eldrew proved he is a formidable contender in his own right by securing three medals across the 2026 circuit including a Gold Medal: Floor Exercise (Antalya, Turkey), Bronze Medal: Floor Exercise (Cairo, Egypt), and another Bronze Medal: Horizontal Bar (Cairo, Egypt).
