The Sandiganbayan Third Division deferred the release of its decision on the bail petition filed by former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and six others charged with malversation.
The case was filed in connection with the “ghost” or nonexistent flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, worth ₱92.8 million.
In a report by RH 5 Val Gonzales, Revilla’s camp confirmed the 30-day deferral through the former senator’s lawyer, Atty. Reann Balisi.
This month-long delay will give the court enough time to consider additional pleadings submitted by the accused and adequately examine the evidence and the transcript of the hearing.
Despite having posted a bail of ₱90,000 for a separate graft case, Revilla remains behind bars at the New Quezon City Jail, as the petition in question—seeking permission to bail for a non-bailable offense—has yet to be resolved.
Among Revilla’s co-accused is Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Engineer Brice Hernandez.
If Revilla and his accomplices are allowed to post bail, the court will set the amount for the former senator’s temporary release; if their request is denied, they will remain in detention while legal proceedings continue.
