Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was transferred to the New Quezon City Jail (NCJ) Male Dormitory in Payatas on Monday, shortly after completing the necessary detention paperwork at the PNP-CIDG headquarters.
According to the report of DZRH's Val Gonzales, Revilla’s transfer followed a four-hour process during which his legal team arranged for his bail posting of ₱90,000 for a bailable graft case before the Sandiganbayan 4th Division. This is separate from other ongoing cases against him that are non-bailable.
Joining Revilla in transferring to the jail were his wife, Cavite 1st District representative Lani Mercado, and their sons, Cavite 1st District representative Jolo Revilla and Representative Bryan Revilla of the Agimat Party-list.
Earlier, Revilla’s camp filed a motion with the Sandiganbayan Third Division requesting that he be detained at the PNP Custodial Center inside Camp Crame instead of the Payatas facility. His legal team argued that the New Quezon City Jail was not suitable for his detention. The motion is scheduled for hearing on January 23, after his arraignment.
PNP officials, however, confirmed that the Camp Crame custodial facility is currently under renovation, leaving the Payatas facility as the only available option for Revilla’s detention, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Revilla’s arraignment at the Sandiganbayan will proceed while he is detained at the New Quezon City Jail, marking the latest development in the ongoing graft proceedings against the former senator.
