Alex Eala will face world No. 13 Diana Schnaider of Russia in the Round of 16 of the Ningbo Open on Thursday, setting up their first career meeting at the WTA 500 tournament in China.

The match is scheduled for 3:20 p.m. local time, subject to change.

Eala, 21, enters the second round ranked No. 20 in the world, while the 22-year-old Schnaider is seeded sixth in the tournament.

The Filipina advanced after securing a 6-3, 6-1 victory over France's Diane Parry, ranked No. 34, on Monday. The win marked Eala's first victory in the Asian swing of the WTA Tour.

Her campaign followed two early exits at the Wuhan Open, where she lost in singles to China's Shi Han, ranked No. 217, before falling in doubles alongside her Turkish partner Zeynep Sonmez against the duo of Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska and Anhelina Kalinina.

Eala will face a tougher test against Schnaider, who holds a higher ranking and enters the tournament as one of its seeded players.
