Classes were suspended in several parts of the country on Friday, July 10, as Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) continued to enhance monsoon rains and winds, prompting local governments to cancel in-person lessons.

As of 6 a.m., multiple cities in Metro Manila and other provinces announced the suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools, with some areas shifting to alternative learning modalities such as asynchronous or modular classes.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), typhoon Inday is expected to make its closest approach to Extreme Northern Luzon between Friday night and Saturday morning before moving toward southern Japan.

The typhoon will possibly pass near or make landfall in northern Taiwan and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday.

Authorities urged the public to remain alert for flooding, landslides and other hazards.
