The Senate Majority bloc remains solid, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano said.

“Buo yung 13. Sa 13, walang onsehan,” he clarified in a six-second clip.

Amid discussions on a possible leadership change in the Senate, Cayetano clarified to reporters that the 13-member group remains intact, despite Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s absence.

Cayetano’s message comes after Senator Risa Hontiveros said in a press conference on Monday, May 25, that the Minority bloc also remains intact with 11 members.

“Status quo pa rin. Para magkaroon ng leadership change, tulad nung nangyari two weeks ago, kailangan ng majority members of the Senate,” Hontiveros explained.

Moreover, Hontiveros said that senators are pushing to restore public trust and credibility to the Senate.

On Saturday, May 23, Senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Kiko Pangilinan said the minority bloc is eyeing Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian as Senate President. In an exclusive interview on Special on Saturday, Lacson explained that Gatchalian is a “non-negotiable” choice for the minority should leadership changes be pursued.

In a separate statement, Pangilinan said that Gatchalian could unite a broader, reform-oriented Senate, adding that the latter is also an acceptable choice for some members of the majority.
