The Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed that it has received the summons issued by the Senate impeachment court, ordering Vice President Sara Duterte to respond to the Articles of Impeachment filed by the House of Representatives.

“The Office of the Vice President confirms receipt of the Summons issued by the Impeachment Court at approximately 10:40 AM today, 20 May 2026,” the OVP said.

The impeachment court requires Duterte to file her comment within a non-extendible period of 10 calendar days.

The summons also directs Duterte to appear before the impeachment court.

Earlier, the Vice President’s defense team said it would comply with the proceedings and submit the appropriate response once the Senate was formally convened as an impeachment court and issued the order to answer the charges.

The impeachment court was convened after the presentation and transmission of the Articles of Impeachment by the House of Representatives of the Philippines to the Senate.

Once the answer is submitted, the prosecution will have five days to file a reply.

The impeachment complaint against Duterte includes allegations of culpable violation of the 1987 Constitution, graft and corruption, and betrayal of public trust.
