Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday, September 4, confirmed that she had received a warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 98 in connection with three counts of alleged grave threats.
In a statement, Duterte said she was formally notified of the warrant dated September 4 and issued by Judge Maria Angelica T. De Ramos. She said the warrant was served at the Office of the Vice President by PNP Col. Christine Tabdi.
“I confirm that I was given notice of a warrant of arrest dated September 4, 2026 issued by Judge Maria Angelica De Ramos of Branch 98, Quezon City and served by PNP Col Christine Tabdi in the Office of the Vice President,” Duterte said.
The Vice President added that her lawyers, Atty. Paul Lim and Atty. Clifford Chua, would immediately attend to the matter.
Earlier, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla told reporters covering developments at Camp Crame that Duterte’s lawyers had already confirmed receipt of the warrant and intended to post bail as soon as possible.
“Their lawyers confirmed that they received the warrant and they intend to post bail ASAP,” Remulla said.
The warrant stems from a case filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) under Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, in relation to the alleged grave threats.
The Quezon City RTC Branch 98 set bail at ₱120,000 for the three counts.
Personnel from the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) were also seen at the Quezon City Hall of Justice following the issuance of the warrant as authorities coordinated with the court.
The case follows proceedings in which Duterte’s camp sought the dismissal of the complaint. Judge De Ramos had previously disclosed that she and Duterte were sorority sisters at the San Beda College of Law, but the judge proceeded with the case and issued the warrant.
The issuance of the arrest warrant does not constitute a finding of guilt. Duterte remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
