Comedian and television host Vice Ganda on Saturday joked that former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo should reconsider a presidential run in 2028 during a visit for the city’s tourism campaign launch.
Vice Ganda said Robredo’s leadership was needed not only in Naga but across the country, though he noted she still has local responsibilities to prioritize.
“Dinggin niyo po kami. Para niyo nang awa. Gusto naming maranasan yung luwag ng kalooban,” Vice Ganda said. “Sa Pilipinas, hindi lahat ng lugar ganyan ang nararamdaman ng mga tao.”
He added that many Filipinos continue to face hardship and expressed hope for a more positive national experience.
“Kasi mas mabigat, mas malungkot, mas hirap, kaysa sa mas masaya… Sana buong Pilipinas ganyan araw-araw,” he said. “Hindi madali ang buhay; may kahirapan, pero malaking bahagi ng mga puso natin yung gaan at saya.”
Vice Ganda also spoke of hope and leadership grounded in compassion, referencing Robredo’s public service.
“Yung pusong walang takot at pangamba… punong-puno ng pag-asa dahil alam natin na tayong lahat ay pinamumunuan ng isang mabuting puso rin,” he said. “We love you madam Leni. Magkita po ulit tayo sa campaign niyo.”
Robredo has earlier announced that she will not seek the presidency in the 2028 national elections and instead plans to run again for mayor of Naga City.
Vice Ganda said he would await her decision when the filing period arrives next year.
The comedian was in Naga City for the official launch of the city’s new tourism branding, “NAGA IS THE HEART,” aimed at boosting local tourism and civic pride.
