Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo is eyeing a second term and clarified that she will not run for a national post in the 2028 elections.
In a local radio interview, Robredo revealed that they have yet to achieve some of their plans for Naga City, stating, “Sigurado na ako sa sarili ko na hindi na ako [tatakbo sa] national [elections].”
Although significant changes have already been made, the Naga City Mayor said the three-year term is not enough to accomplish everything they have planned out for the city. Due to the time constraints, she said she would most likely seek a second term as mayor.
“Sa akin, aware naman ako na may mga gustong tumakbo pa ako [sa presidential elections]. Pero ako, mas priority ko ang gagawin ko para sa Naga,” she said in response to people asking whether she will run for a national post in 2028.
“Pero ngayon malayo na yon sa horizon ko. Malayo na sa horizon ko na babalik ako sa national [elections],” she added.
Robredo served as the 14th Vice President of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022, under former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In 2025, she took her oath of office as the first female mayor of Naga City, winning by a landslide in the midterm elections.
