Akbayan Party President Rafaela David on Friday called for scrutiny of allegations that hundreds of millions of pesos from Chinese government and corporate sources flowed to entities linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases “Mans” Carpio.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV alleged that more than ₱319 million entered Cale88 Foods Corp., a company previously linked to Carpio, while ₱150 million was received by the Tapang at Malasakit Alliance for the Philippines. AMLC records submitted to the impeachment court reportedly include summaries of remittances to Cale88 from China and other countries.

David said the allegations should be presented before the impeachment court for verification.

“The impeachment court must tackle these allegations head-on and establish the facts. Saan nanggaling ang pera? Kanino napunta? At may kapalit ba?”

She added that if proven, the alleged transactions could raise questions involving corruption, accountability, national security and Philippine sovereignty.

“The specter of China-funded plunderers should set off alarm bells for every Filipino,” David said.

The allegations have yet to be established in court.
