Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV alleged Friday that hundreds of millions of pesos from the Chinese government and China-based corporations were funneled to a company linked to Vice President Sara Duterte’s husband, Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio, and to the Tapang at Malasakit Foundation.

Speaking at a live press conference on Oct. 2, Trillanes claimed that more than ₱319 million entered CALE88, a company he identified as belonging to Carpio, while another ₱150 million went to the Tapang at Malasakit Foundation.

“Ngayon ang pinaka-mabigat sa lahat, base sa mga nakalap namin na impormasyon at ito ay mapapatotohanan sa impeachment court,” Trillanes said, adding that the alleged transactions came from the Chinese government and corporations operating in China.

He also claimed that the funds received by Carpio’s company would form part of the couple’s conjugal properties.

The former senator had been expected to testify for the prosecution in the impeachment trial of Duterte.

However, on Thursday, Trillanes said he had asked the House prosecution panel, led by Chair Gerville Luistro, to formally withdraw his name as a witness, saying this would relieve the panel of the pressure it was facing.

Instead, Trillanes held his own press conference Friday to present what he described as evidence against the vice president.

The allegations have yet to be established in court.
