Mel Oragon, the suspect linked to the May 13 Senate shooting incident, has been temporarily released after posting bail amounting to ₱116,000, authorities confirmed.
Oragon secured temporary liberty for charges involving violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and direct assault.
Earlier, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag clarified that Oragon was not an official employee of the NBI. However, investigations reportedly showed that he served as a volunteer and acted as a driver for agents assigned to guard the GSIS Compound during the Senate security operations.
The Senate shooting incident on May 13 remains under investigation as authorities continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
