The Senate impeachment court has served a subpoena ad testificandum to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) Chief of Staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez, requiring her to appear and testify in the continuation of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on July 13 and 14.

The subpoena, signed by Senate Impeachment Court Presiding Officer Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, ordered Lopez to appear before the Senate court at 2 p.m. on both dates at the Senate in Pasay City.

“You are hereby commanded to appear on July 13 and 14, 2026, at 2 p.m., before the Senate Impeachment Court, at the Senate of the Philippines, Senate Building, GSIS Headquarters, Financial Center, J.W. Diokno Boulevard, Pasay City, then and there to testify your knowledge in the case which is before the Court in which the House of Representatives has impeached Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte,” the subpoena stated.

The OVP’s Central Records Unit officially received the subpoena at 1:10 p.m.

Under the subpoena, Lopez’s attendance is mandatory.

The Senate court also informed the House prosecution panel and the defense counsel regarding the service of the subpoena.

The issuance of the subpoena came after Lopez arrived at the Senate on Thursday, July 9.

Senate Secretary and Impeachment Clerk of Court Renato Bantug Jr. said Lopez’s visit to the Senate was 'purely administrative' and did not involve any discussions regarding the impeachment proceedings against Duterte, according to a report by RH Raymund Dadpaas.

The prosecution panel earlier requested that Lopez be summoned as a witness after she was present during an online conference where Duterte made remarks that allegedly contained threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
