Six Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials were removed from office, the Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing on Tuesday, July 1.
Following former National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director and Office of Civil Defense Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno’s appointment as the BOC’s new Commissioner, Castro announced Tuesday that six officials from the said agency were removed from office.
This comes amid President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s ongoing realignment within the government to meet public expectations.
Although Castro did not name any of the officials who were removed from office, she said that it included some deputy commissioners, collectors, and directors from the agency.
Meanwhile, Castro clarified that Marcos is aiming for transparency in the collection of revenues.
According to her, the President is only continuing the performance evaluation within government offices, adding that everyone is on probation.
