The Senate formally reorganized several key committee chairmanships on Wednesday, May 20, installing new leaders in major panels, including oversight, foreign relations, finance, and environment, amid a broader leadership reshuffle in the chamber.

Senator Pia Cayetano was designated as the new chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, replacing Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, who was named vice chairperson of the panel. The Blue Ribbon Committee handles investigations into alleged irregularities in government agencies and officials.

In another major change, Senator Imee Marcos was elected chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, with Senator Erwin Tulfo serving as vice chairperson.

Senator Camille Villar retained her post as chairperson of the Committee on Environment while also maintaining leadership roles in the Committee on Government Corporations and Public Enterprises alongside Senator Mark Villar as vice chairperson.

Meanwhile, Senator Mark Villar was also confirmed as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance-related panels, further strengthening his role in budget and fiscal oversight.

The latest reshuffle follows the election of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano as the new Senate President and a series of committee elections and leadership realignments in the Senate, which also saw adjustments in key posts across multiple standing committees as the chamber prepares for upcoming legislative priorities.

Senate leaders said the reorganization aims to streamline committee functions and ensure continuity in legislative work as the 20th Congress advances its agenda.
