Senator Raffy Tulfo has publicly invited members of the Senate majority bloc to join the minority group, excluding Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, amid rising tensions in the upper chamber.
“Lahat iimbitahan namin, sumanib kayo sa amin, pero si Alan Peter steady ka lang diyan,” Tulfo said, urging majority senators to align with the minority bloc while directly addressing Cayetano.
Tulfo also issued a strong challenge to the Senate President, calling for his presence in the next plenary session.
“Hinahamon ko si Alan Peter Cayetano: kung matapang ka, pumunta ka dito bukas sa plenary. Otherwise, duwag ka,” he added.
The remarks come amid ongoing political friction in the Senate, where the minority bloc has recently called for Cayetano’s resignation, accusing him of alleged abandonment of duty and violations of Senate rules following disruptions in plenary sessions and reported absences of majority senators.
As previously reported, the minority bloc—Solid Bloc 11—claimed that procedural rules on session postponements were violated and that the Senate leadership failed to properly coordinate with both majority and minority leaders.
The latest remarks from Tulfo further intensify tensions between Senate factions, as leadership disputes and questions over plenary attendance continue to dominate the chamber’s proceedings.
