Senator Erwin Tulfo on Wednesday renewed his call for a thorough and impartial investigation into the shooting incident on May 13 inside the Senate, following reports of chaos and gunfire that prompted heightened security concerns within the legislative chamber.

Tulfo stressed that the inquiry must be guided by transparency, restraint, and credibility as separate investigations are being conducted by the Senate and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“There must be clarity, not confusion. Restraint, not escalation,” Tulfo said during the Senate session.

He added that while existing probes are already underway, public demand for a credible and independent fact-finding process must be taken seriously.

“I acknowledge that there are ongoing investigations by both the Senate and the NBI, but there is merit in the public outcry for an impartial, independent, and facts-based investigation,” he said.

Tulfo further emphasized the importance of ensuring that the process remains free from political influence and speculation, underscoring that public trust depends on fairness and transparency.

“Mahalagang maitaguyod ang isang proseso na patas, transparent, at may kredibilidad sa mata ng publiko. Walang undue influence, walang haka-haka,” he added.

Authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which earlier triggered security lockdown protocols after reports of internal disturbances. Investigations remain ongoing as officials seek to establish the full sequence of events.
