Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic and temporary road closures near the EDSA People Power Monument on Sunday, June 28, due to a planned prayer and indignation rally led by the White Ribbon Movement.
In a traffic advisory issued June 25, authorities said congestion is expected from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. along major roads surrounding the area, including Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), Katipunan Avenue, Ortigas Avenue, White Plains Avenue and Temple Drive.
White Plains Avenue, from Katipunan Avenue to EDSA on the Camp Aguinaldo side, will be temporarily closed on the day of the rally.
Ahead of the event, a zipper lane scheme will be implemented along White Plains Avenue between EDSA and Katipunan Avenue from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help manage traffic flow.
Traffic management personnel from the Quezon City government, police, and metropolitan agencies will be deployed to assist motorists and ensure order during the activity.
Authorities are urging drivers to take alternative routes and allow extra travel time.
The White Ribbon Movement has also organized the gathering as a prayer and protest event expected to draw participants to the EDSA shrine area.
