A police corporal has been charged over the physical assault of a man he believed to be his live-in partner’s lover in Mandaluyong City, according to a Thursday report.

In a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa, Mandaluyong City Chief of Police PCol. Reynan Patam, the suspect, who was assigned to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), is now under their custody after surrendering to his station commander.

The incident occurred when the suspect and victim happened to come across each other in Addition Hills. It was later discovered that the victim was a previous partner of the police corporal’s partner and that the suspect and victim had been in an altercation in the past.

Learning that the victim had returned to the barangay where the suspect and his partner lived, the suspect approached the victim, yelling, and physically assaulted him in front of many people.

“Nakita lang niya ‘yung lalaki, kasi nga, siguro dinamdam pa rin niya ‘yung nangyari noon, noong 2023. Nagkaroon sila ng initial na confrontation noon. Umalis din ‘yung lalaki sa area; hindi niya alam na nakabalik na pala. Ngayon nakita niya, nabigla siya, nagalit siya,” Patam said.

The police corporal is now facing physical injury and grave threat charges, according to Patam.
