The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has cancelled its scheduled On Tour doubleheader in Santiago City on Saturday, Aug. 8, due to the effects of Tropical Depression Maymay (international name: Kujira).
The league said the decision was made to prioritize the safety of fans, players, team personnel, officials, and everyone involved in the event.
The cancelled matches at the Santiago Sports Arena were set to feature ZUS Coffee against PLDT Home Fiber, followed by Capital1 facing Creamline.
“The safety of our fans, athletes, team personnel, officials, and everyone involved remains our top priority,” the PVL said in a statement.
The league assured ticket holders that all purchased tickets for the cancelled matches will be refunded. Details on the refund process will be announced through TicketMax’s official channels.
Despite the cancellation, the PVL said it remains committed to bringing volleyball action to Santiago City, promising to hold an All-Filipino Conference gameday in the area.
Tropical Depression Maymay brought heavy rains and adverse weather conditions in parts of Luzon, prompting several event cancellations and safety measures.
