The police presence around the Senate Complex has been reduced to more than 3,000 personnel on Tuesday, July 7, as authorities anticipate fewer protesters during the second day of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Anthony Aberin told DZRH News the deployment was cut from nearly 6,000 officers assigned on the trial's opening day.
Despite the reduced number of personnel, security measures remain tight in and around the Senate. Police K9 units have also been deployed inside the upper chamber as part of enhanced security operations.
The NCRPO chief said the authorities will maintain its full alert status across Metro Manila in the coming days while the impeachment proceedings continue.
He added that the overall security setup outside the Senate remains similar to Monday's deployment, with officers continuing to secure key access points and surrounding areas.
Authorities also reiterated that rallies and public assemblies will only be permitted along the southbound side of the road fronting the Senate, in line with existing security directives.
