The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has issued a subpoena directing Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to appear before investigators on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) during the Duterte administration.

The subpoena orders the former national police chief to attend proceedings at 10:00 a.m. at the CIDG office in Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City, where he is expected to clarify matters, execute a sworn statement, and submit documents relevant to the investigation.

“You are hereby directed to appear on May 14, 2026… to then and there clarify matters, execute a sworn statement/affidavit,” the document stated, according to a copy dated May 10, 2026.

The order was issued under Republic Act No. 10973 and warns that failure to comply without valid justification may lead to the filing of indirect contempt charges under Rule 71 of the Revised Rules of Court.

The CIDG did not immediately provide further details on the scope of the investigation. Dela Rosa, a key figure in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign, has yet to publicly respond to the subpoena as of Monday.

The probe forms part of continuing scrutiny into alleged abuses linked to the government’s anti-illegal drug operations during Duterte’s presidency.
