The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi and the Honorary Consulate General of the Philippines in Kathmandu are closely monitoring the situation in parts of northern Nepal hit by massive flash floods, the embassy said Thursday.

The Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi, which is mandated to represent the Philippines in Nepal, said it is coordinating with Nepali authorities to determine whether any Philippine nationals have been affected by the disaster.

"The Embassy and the Consulate General are coordinating with Nepali authorities to determine whether there are affected Philippine nationals and provide emergency rescue or assistance," the statement read.

The statement came as Nepal continues search-and-rescue operations following severe flooding and mudslides in parts of the country.

A Filipino national was reported missing after a massive mudslide swept through the Nepal-China border on Wednesday.

According to Nepal’s Tourism Board, 644 people from more than two dozen countries were still reported missing as of noon Thursday, including the Filipino national.

Nepal police, meanwhile, reported that the death toll had reached 332, while more than 1,000 people were reported missing.

Authorities warned that the number of missing persons could increase as search-and-rescue operations continue.
