A Filipino is reported missing after a massive mudslide swept through the Nepal-China border on Wednesday, while hundreds more are reported missing.
According to information from Nepal's Tourism Board, as of 12:00pm Thursday, 644 persons belonging to more than two dozen countries, are reported still missing, including one Filipino national, while Nepal police issued an update saying the death toll has already reached 332 and more than 1,000 were reported missing. The number of missing persons may increase as search and rescue operations continue.

The Nepal Tourism Board said that the missing persons were reported by trekking and travel companies, and the information is being verified and cross-checked in coordination with travel agencies, guides, local authorities and security agencies.
“Following the devastating flash flood in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli River in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dahding and Gorkha at around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Government of Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, Tourist Police and tourism stakeholders are working to verify the whereabouts and safety status of tourists and travelers who were at or travelling through the affected areas,” the Nepal Tourism Board said in a statement.
“All efforts are underway to rescue/evacuate the injured and stranded people,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi and the Honorary Consulate General of the Philippines in Kathmandu, Nepal are “actively monitoring” the situation in parts of northern Nepal that has been hit by massive flash floods.
“The Embassy and the Consulate General are coordinating with Nepali authorities to determine whether there are affected Philippine nationals and provide emergency rescue or assistance,” the DFA stated.
The DFA has yet to confirm the said information on the Filipino national. The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi, India has jurisdiction over Nepal, while government figures show that there are approximately 128 Filipinos residing in Nepal.
