Senator Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan said he is still weighing the possibility of being designated as an impeachment manager in the expected trial involving Vice President Sara Duterte, stressing that no final decision has been made by the Senate.

Pangilinan said the matter remains under discussion and will ultimately depend on the decision of the Senate majority.

“Pinag-iisipan ko pa. It's just a suggestion. So, wala pang final. Pero, tingnan natin. It's really the decision of the majority,” he said.

He added that the role being discussed is largely procedural in nature and aimed at ensuring orderly proceedings in the anticipated impeachment trial.

“Just to make the proceedings, parang to make sure that the proceedings are orderly. So, it's really more administrative than anything else,” Pangilinan said.

The senator noted that the framework for the proceedings has yet to be finalized, saying rules still need to be completed and adopted before the trial can proceed.

“Kailangan pang isama sa rules yun and then ma-adapt pa. May mga administrative matters that have to be addressed before we proceed to actual trial. So, parang court administrator. Parang ganun,” he added.

Earlier, a Senate official had said there were plans to designate Pangilinan as one of the impeachment managers, who are expected to help present the case and clarify procedural rules during the trial.

The Senate has yet to formally set the rules and timeline for the impeachment proceedings.
