The sari-sari and wet sections of the Pampang Public Market in Angeles City were temporarily closed to the public Wednesday as a precautionary measure following a fire that reached the fifth alarm.

The Angeles City government ordered the temporary closure while firefighters and safety personnel assess the affected areas.

“Firefighters and safety personnel are continuing their assessment of the affected area to ensure the safety of vendors, customers, and the general public,” the local government said in a statement.

Authorities advised the public to avoid the affected sections until they are declared safe for reopening.

The fire broke out at the market on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Further details on the extent of the damage have yet to be disclosed.
