At least one or two cyclones may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this month, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA on Wednesday.
Based on its forecast, PAGASA said these cyclones may approach the country’s landmass before moving east without making landfall.
The weather disturbances may also cross the Eastern Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and some parts of Luzon. In this scenario, the state weather bureau said the cyclone may recurve toward the waters off Northern Luzon.
Several areas in the country have been experiencing a "dangerous level" of heat index with the highest recorded in Iba, Zambales at 53°C on Sunday, said PAGASA.
The heat index is the human discomfort index that gives the "apparent" temperature, or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body.
PAGASA declared last March 22 the start of the warm and dry season in the country.
