Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla is the one who should be questioned regarding Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s whereabouts, said National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag.
In a Friday report by RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort, Matibag told DZRH that Padilla was the last person with Dela Rosa before his disappearance.
At present, the bureau is coordinating with the Department of Justice (DOJ) as to its next move. Matibag maintained that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had not ordered the bureau to invade the Senate building and arrest Dela Rosa.
The director said they had merely followed the right process in accordance with the law, considering Senator Dela Rosa’s appeals to the Supreme Court against his warrant of arrest, including one for a temporary restraining order (TRO).
Earlier, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano confirmed that Dela Rosa had departed from Senate premises at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, following a shooting incident within its building due to the NBI’s attempt to arrest the senator.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed that NBI volunteer Mel Oragon, who was identified as the shooter, was undergoing inquest proceedings.
Oragon is presently detained at the Pasay City Police Station and facing multiple cases.
