Senator Joel Villanueva, during a Tuesday plenary session, highlighted the extent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents’ alleged violence, which resulted in an Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) staff member’s serious injuries.
He described the personnel as “bugbog-sarado” or thoroughly beaten up and reportedly bloodied from defending Senate interests.
“Nandoon mismo ako sa Senate clinic noong dinala ‘yung OSAA personnel natin. Mr. President, bugbog-sarado siya dito sa video… kinukuha, sinakay, pinipilit isakay sa sasakyan tapos umalis,” Villanueva said, holding up his phone to show other senators a video taken by his staff member of the said OSAA personnel being tackled to the ground.
“Duguan na po ‘yung ating Senate OSAA,” he added.
An altercation broke out at the Senate entrance on Monday, as the OSAA personnel in question attempted to bar the exit of NBI agents who had chased and allegedly wrestled Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in efforts to serve him an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The agents had slammed the personnel’s head to the ground and tried to ride off with him in their car, but fellow OSAA staff were able to retrieve him in time. The personnel sustained facial injuries due to the incident.
