The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that no Filipino casualties have been reported following a catastrophic flash flood that hit the Nepal-Tibet border as of Friday.
In a statement released on Saturday, the DMW extended its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and communities affected by the deadly flooding.
“As of August 28, 2026, no Filipino casualties have been reported in connection with the catastrophic flooding,” the DMW said.
The agency said it is closely coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine authorities on the ground, and the Filipino community in Kathmandu to verify the condition and whereabouts of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who may have been affected by the disaster.
The DMW also said it "stands ready to provide all appropriate and necessary assistance to affected OFWs and their families" in coordination with relevant government agencies and authorities.
Earlier, a Filipino was reported missing in Nepal following a catastrophic flash flood.
The Nepal Tourism Board on Thursday, August 27, released a breakdown of those reported missing in the flood-hit Rasuwa district, which included one Filipino.
The family of Filipino doctor Juan Carlos Manalo has appealed for information on his whereabouts after he went missing following the flash flood near the Nepal-Tibet border.
His sister, Chiara Manalo, made the appeal in a social media post, urging the public to share any information that could help locate her brother.
