A man who had just attended his graduation ceremony was wounded after unidentified gunmen opened fire on him outside Kolehiyo ng Pantukan, Davao de Oro, on Thursday, June 25.

According to the police report, the victim, a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Pindasan, Mabini, Davao de Oro, had just come from the graduation ceremony at the Kolehiyo ng Pantukan in Barangay Kingking when the incident occurred.

Based on the initial police investigation, the victim had just exited the school grounds when he was shot by unidentified suspects. The number of attackers has not yet been determined. After the shooting, the suspects reportedly fled the scene on board a gray minivan.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital-Pantukan for medical treatment. Authorities have not yet released details on his current condition.

Police have launched a hot pursuit operation and continue to investigate the motive behind the attack and the identities of the suspects.

The municipal government of Pantukan said it is closely coordinating with law enforcement agencies regarding the incident.

“The LGU is currently coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities and other concerned agencies to support the ongoing investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable in accordance with the law,” the local government said in a statement.

Officials also assured the public that assistance will be extended to the victim and his family, and emphasized that the safety of students and residents remains a top priority.

Meanwhile, the Pantukan municipal government urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while the investigation is ongoing.
