The National Capital Region (NCR) extended its dominance in Philippine youth sports, clinching its 19th consecutive overall championship in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
NCR topped the medal standings across regular sports, demonstration events, and the Paragames, continuing a long-standing streak as the country’s premier multi-sport event for student-athletes concluded.
The region asserted its strength, finishing with 233 medals in regular sports, 5 medals in Demo Sports, 20 medals in the Paragames category.
Region IV-A finished as first runner-up, followed by Region XI as second runner-up. Region VI placed fourth overall.
Bannering NCR’s campaign was swimmer Patricia Mar Santor, who emerged as the top medalist after completing a seven-gold sweep in her events. NCR athletes also delivered record-breaking performances, setting five new Palaro marks in swimming and athletics.
Among the best-performing local contingents, Manila led with 45 gold, 24 silver and 25 bronze medals. Rizal Province followed with 24 gold, 21 silver and 22 bronze, while Pasig City contributed 22 gold, 18 silver and nine bronze.
Cebu City and Davao City also made strong showings with 17 and 15 gold medals, respectively.
With its continued success, NCR remains the standard-bearer in grassroots sports development in the country.
The Palarong Pambansa will return to the capital region in 2027, with Quezon City set to host the next edition of the annual national games.
