The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will file a criminal complaint against Wack Wack Golf and Country Club president Lawrence Tan, who was among those found during a raid on a KTV bar in Pasig City on April 21.

In a report by Jecelle Ricafort, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the bureau is preparing to file a case for the crime of solicitation against Tan before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.

Matibag also disclosed that another individual set to be charged is a child of former congressman Mike Defensor, who allegedly served as the corporate secretary of the establishment involved in the investigation.

The NBI had earlier confirmed that it would file qualified human trafficking charges against Defensor in connection with the operation.

According to Matibag, the bureau is targeting Friday for the filing of the complaints after completing an extensive review of the evidence and official documents related to the case.

We're looking at Friday to file it kasi naging mahirap ang pag-aaral namin, ginawa pa namin ang official documents. So sa ngayon ang annexes pinapacertify na lang namin para pagpasok sa fiskalya mas malinaw ang mga evidence na nakalagay,” Matibag said.

He added that the evidence gathered by investigators strengthens the bureau’s position that Defensor may be indicted for qualified human trafficking.

Matibag also confirmed that Tan would face a separate complaint for solicitation based on the findings of the investigation.

The NBI has yet to release further details on the specific circumstances surrounding the charges as preparations for the filing continue.
