The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued subpoenas to four lawyers allegedly involved in drafting a script and affidavit for a supposed sex scandal plot targeting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, officials said.

According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, the NBI–National Capital Region said the lawyers were ordered to appear before the agency on Friday, from morning until afternoon, to explain their alleged roles.

Earlier, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the unnamed lawyers could face disbarment over their supposed participation in the scheme. He added that it may be better for them to voluntarily surrender their licenses.

Matibag said investigators are looking into possible motives behind the alleged setup, including links to local politics or Recto’s position as a key administration official.

The development came after the arrest of a talent manager identified only as alias “Ken,” who claimed in a statement that former congressman Jing Paras acted as facilitator, while Rep. Leandro Leviste allegedly served as financier of the supposed honeytrap operation.

The NBI has yet to confirm the extent of the alleged involvement of the individuals named, as the investigation remains ongoing.
