The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will request a Red Notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) tomorrow, November 24, according to NBI OIC Director Atty. Angelito Magno.
In an interview on DZRH Stories: Pinoy Documentaries, Magno said that agents have already visited all known addresses of former Congressman Zaldy Co, but all yielded negative results in the implementation of the warrant of arrest.
Following this, the agency is looking into all possible scenarios regarding Co’s whereabouts. Magno confirmed that they are now preparing to request a Red Notice.
“Uumpisahan na po nating mag-file ng Red Notice para makatulong na rin ang Interpol sa paghahanap sa kanya [Zaldy Co]. Dahil bago lang na lumabas ang kaniyang arrest warrant, ay uumpisahan pa lang natin ito sa lalong madaling panahon,” Magno said.
“Bukas na bukas po ay magpapadala na tayo ng ating request,” he added.
This development comes after the anti‑graft court Sandiganbayan issued warrants against Co and 17 others, including DPWH officials and executives from Sunwest Corporation in connection with alleged irregularities in flood-control projects.
Out of the 18 individuals, one DPWH engineer was arrested on Sunday morning and is now under NBI custody.
Earlier, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. warned that those involved in the flood-control corruption scandal will not have a “Merry Christmas,” as they are expected to face imprisonment.
