The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has launched an investigation into alleged ghost flood control projects in Taguig City, the political bailiwick of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said Cayetano had 11 projects in Taguig City in 2022. These projects were allegedly linked to 15 contractors involved in flood control deals worth around P100 billion, according to a report of RH Jecelle Ricafort on DZRH's Operation Tulong.

"In fact we are already investigating kasi 'yung 2022 meron siyang 11 proyekto diyan somehow related doon sa pinangalanan na Top 15 contractors, iniimbestigahan namin 'yan," Matibag said.

Matibag acknowledged that questions may be raised regarding the timing of the investigation but said the matter had already been brought up earlier by Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

"Kaya lang... baka sabihi 'yung timing na naman, anyway public na naman 'yan dahil sinasabi ni Sen. [Ping] Lacson, I think we should mentioned it," he added.

Lacson previously raised allegations against Cayetano after the latter accused him of having doubled his net worth based on his 2025 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

Cayetano denied the existence of ghost flood control projects in Taguig City.

He challenged Lacson to investigate other cities as well and not single out Taguig in the probe.
