Singer-actress Miley Cyrus officially received her star, with her name laid in gold in pink terrazzo, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Saturday, May 23.
Right before cementing her place in Hollywood, Miley released a track of the same title last year. During the ceremony, Miley shared that her co-writer and dear friend Britanny Howard closed the song “Walk of Fame” with a poem and ended with a mantra that said: “You’ll live forever.”
Speaking about Brittany, Miley said, “She sings it as if the stars somehow represent immortality, and although I love the lyric, the fact that I won’t is what creates the urgency that sets my heart on fire, my life and my art, and my desire to break down the walls of any boxes that we’ve been tricked to believe exist.”
According to the "Younger You" singer, receiving a star is not something to chase or collect, but rather a motivation to continue creating and releasing art.
“The star isn’t something that you win like a seasonal game. It’s not something that you can chase or collect. It’s not something you make the next record for and then tote it around like a trophy. My name is laid in gold and pink terrazzo!” she said.
Miley promised to continue the cycle of creation, emphasizing that it is what she truly lives for.
“My hope is that what I leave behind continues to affect the hearts of generations to come, ones that I won’t be here to experience. I hope it awakens something raw and imperfect and sexy and glamorous and joyful in times that need it. … Today is something I’ll never forget, and I’m always going to cherish,” she expressed.
To mark the memorable occasion, Miley was accompanied by actress Anya Taylor-Joy and fashion designer Donatella Versace, who also served as the ceremony’s guest speakers.
During her speech, Anya said that the “Flowers” singer outran every expectation set for her, challenged the rules, and re-wrote them.
“From Disney Channel beginnings to global pop icon, from country roots to rockstar grit, Miley has never asked for permission to evolve. She’s just done it — beautifully, unapologetically and always, always authentically,” Anya said.
With over two decades in the industry, the 33-year-old singer has seamlessly shifted away from her Disney pop-star roots and into a Grammy-winning icon.
Earlier this year, Miley surprised long-time fans by putting on her iconic blonde wig and resurrecting the Disney Channel pop star, “Hannah Montana,” for the show's 20th Anniversary special.
In 2024, she earned two Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, marking her first-ever Grammy win. That same year, she was inducted as the youngest Disney Legend at the D23: Official Disney Fan Club.
