Former congressman Mike Defensor announced on Sunday that a “Blue Ribbon hearing” on the alleged flood control anomalies will push through on Tuesday, June 16, but will be held outside the Senate premises.

In a social media post, Defensor said the hearing will instead take place at the DoubleGem EDSA Garden Events Place at 10:00 a.m., and encouraged supporters to attend.

He also called on the public to support what he described as the “Brave 18” and an additional 14 individuals, referred to as the “14 maleta boys,” who are expected to appear in connection with the ongoing Senate inquiry into alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Earlier, Defensor said the 14 additional witnesses are set to attend the next hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee under the panel led by Senator Pia Cayetano.

The group is allegedly linked to the distribution of cash-filled suitcases purportedly tied to flood control projects now under probe.

Defensor also urged support for several senators, including Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Rodante Marcoleta, Imee Marcos, Camille Villar, Mark Villar, and Robin Padilla. As well as Senators Loren Legarda, Jinggoy Estrada, Christopher 'Bong' Go, Joel Villanueva, and Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa.

According to Defensor, it is important that the truth comes out through the testimonies of witnesses.

“Suportahan natin ang paglabas ng katotohanan!” he said in his post.

However, the Gatchalian bloc has not released any official announcement regarding the next Blue Ribbon hearing under the chairmanship of Senator Erwin Tulfo following the June 8 session.

During the June 8 hearing, the 18 alleged “bagmen,” their legal counsel Atty. Levi Baligod, and Defensor did not appear at the Senate panel’s inquiry into the alleged flood control scandal.
