According to the Marikina City Public Information Office (PIO), the river reached 16.0 meters at 1:50 p.m. and further rose to 16.1 meters at 2:08 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the river was recorded at 14.9 meters at 12:07 p.m. It rose to 15 meters at 12:17 p.m., prompting authorities to raise the alert to the first alarm.
Under the second alarm, residents in affected areas are advised to evacuate as a precaution, although evacuation is not yet mandatory.

The third alarm will be raised once the river reaches 18 meters, at which point mandatory evacuation will be enforced.
The continued rise in the river level comes as the southwest monsoon persists, bringing heavy rains over parts of Luzon.
