President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. paid his final respects to the late Quirino Gov. Dakila Carlo “Dax” Cua, remembering him as a valued colleague, dedicated public servant and friend.

Marcos also expressed his condolences to Cua’s wife, Quirino Rep. Midy Cua, his parents, former congressman and governor Junie Cua and Angela Cua, as well as his three children.

According to Cua's family, he had been battling lung cancer since early 2024.

His father, former congressman and governor Junie Cua, said Dax was diagnosed with the disease while serving as president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines.

Despite his diagnosis, Cua continued to carry out his duties in local government and public service until his passing.

Cua served as governor of Quirino and was also involved in various initiatives through his work in local government.
