“Machong Chismisan” Podcast host Daniel Lawrence Vivar has appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Cybercrime Division, accompanied by his lawyer.
At 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Vivar and Atty. Pio Garayblas arrived at the Cybercrime Division office, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort. Vivar declined to answer questions raised by the media.
The four other hosts are also expected to face the bureau over jokes that have been described as “mockeries” of Josh Aquino’s disability as a person on the autism spectrum.
The said hosts received backlash after calling Aquino “worthless” in an October 5 episode, which has since been taken down.
Aside from the episode’s deletion, the hosts had also issued a public apology.
However, the 1PWD party-list filed a complaint-referral against them, requesting the NBI to investigate the possible violation of the Magna Carta for Persons With Disability and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
1PWD Party-list Rep. JD Castro said disparaging remarks aimed at persons with disabilities (PWDs) affect the PWD community as a whole.
Despite the public apology, Castro stressed that damage has already been dealt, and mockeries made without compassion should be addressed accordingly.
“Even if they released public apologies, sabi ko nga—at sabi rin ng mga taong kasama namin sa sector, ‘yung mga parents po… the damage has been done, at nasaktan na sila. And sabi nila sa akin, hindi ba kami maaawa sa host? Pero during the time ba na sinasabi nila ‘yung kanilang mockeries sa mga PWDs, naawa ba sila? Hindi rin naman,” he explained during a Monday interview.
Castro came back to the NBI office at Director Atty. Melvin Matibag’s invitation, following his complaint filed on Monday.
