The state weather bureau on Monday assured the public that La Mesa Dam remains below its overflow spilling level.

However, its water level reached 80.11 meters as of 11:00 a.m., just 0.04 meters below the 80.15-meter overflow spilling level, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA

In the event of an overflow, the low-lying areas along the Tullahan River in Quezon City—namely Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Sta. Quitera, and San Bartolome—Caloocan City, Valenzuela (specifically the North Expressway, La Huerta Subdivision), Malabon, and Navotas—are likely to be affected.

“All residents living in the aforementioned areas, especially those near the river banks, are ADVISED TO BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLASHFLOODS,” the bureau said.

As of 11:00 a.m., an orange rainfall warning has been issued for Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro for today and tomorrow, August 11.
