The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) formally concluded its three-day protest on Thursday, July 2, thanking its members and supporters for participating in the demonstrations despite the challenging weather conditions.

The three-day rally was held to express support for Senator Rodante Marcoleta after the Office of the Ombudsman said it would proceed with filing a plunder case against him over the alleged non-declaration of P75 million in campaign contributions in his Statement of Campaign Expenditures (SOCE).

INC spokesperson Edwin Zabala expressed gratitude to those who joined what he described as a peaceful movement.

“Salamat sa inyong lahat, sa pakikipag-isa sa mapayapang kilusan nating ito. Salamat sa inyong pagtitiyaga na kahit umuulan o mainit ang araw, ay narito pa rin kayo alang-alang sa ating mithiin,” Zabala said.

He also thanked God and said the group believes its message of support for Senator Rodante Marcoleta had been clearly conveyed to the concerned authorities.

“Higit sa lahat, nagpapasalamat tayo sa Diyos at umaasang kung ano ang Kanyang kalooban ay siyang makapangyayari. Naniniwala tayo na naiparating natin nang malinaw sa mga kinauukulan ang ating mensahe,” he added.

Following the protest's conclusion, the NCRPO lifted its full alert status and shifted to a heightened alert posture, according to DZRH News reporter Jecelle Ricafort.

NCRPO spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo said the adjustment was made after the three-day gathering ended without any major untoward incidents.

Police noted that while tensions were reported near the EDSA People Power Monument on the first day of the protest, no significant security issues were recorded after the demonstration was transferred to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on its final day.

Authorities said they will continue to monitor the security situation and may reinstate a full alert status if necessary, particularly ahead of the expected start of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, July 6.
