President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. dismissed circulating false claims about his health, emphasizing that he remains physically fit and active. After attending the press briefing at the New Executive Building in Malacañang on Monday, April 13, the President even went for a brief jog inside the Palace grounds, running from Gate 3 toward the main complex—an apparent effort to demonstrate his physical condition amid ongoing rumors.
Before formally facing the media, Marcos also performed jumping jacks in front of reporters as a further show of fitness. The display came as he sought to directly counter speculation about his health, which he firmly denied, stressing that he is in good condition.
“Tingnan natin kung sino mas malakas magbuhat ng weight,” Marcos said, challenging critics.
He added: “I challenge anyone who were saying that I am sick that they come and exercise with me. We will see who is stronger. Come to the gym with me.”
The President’s remarks came amid misinformation online regarding his supposed hospitalization. Marcos clarified that he has not been admitted to a hospital in recent months, noting that his last visit was for a CAT scan to confirm recovery from diverticulitis.
Marcos reiterated that he maintains an active lifestyle, exercising three to four times a week, and only takes maintenance medication for gout and hypertension. “I’m fine, I’m really quite fine,” he said, underscoring that he relies more on proper diet, exercise, and rest rather than supplements.
Following his health clarification, the President proceeded with the briefing to discuss economic measures, including government efforts to address rising oil prices and stabilize the cost of essential goods, while assuring the public of sufficient food supply and continued support programs.
