President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reassured the public of his health status during a press briefing on Monday, April 13, firmly dismissing rumors of recent hospital visits and explaining that his condition has stabilized following previous treatment for diverticulitis.
“I just had my regular blood test… And I’m fine, I’m really quite fine,” Marcos said, clarifying that his last hospital procedure was a scheduled CT scan to confirm full recovery. “It was the CAT scan to tell my doctors if the diverticulitis has completely been fixed. And it was, and I’m done.”
He said the procedure occurred “two and a half, three months ago,” stressing that reports suggesting repeated hospitalizations were inaccurate. “I haven’t been to the hospital for three months, and even then it was just to have a CAT scan.”
Marcos explained that the scan was part of medical monitoring to ensure that his previous condition—diverticulitis, an inflammation of the digestive tract—had fully resolved. He added that his doctors confirmed his recovery, allowing him to return to normal routines.
The President said his daily lifestyle has since stabilized, including regular physical exercise “three, four times a week,” improved diet monitoring, and adequate rest, though he admitted, “medyo kulang ako yung tulog.”
He also disclosed that he only maintains medication for gout and hypertension. “Nasa lahi namin mga Ilocano magka gout,” he said in explaining his gout medication, while confirming that antihistamines are only taken when allergies occur.
Marcos added that he does not rely on dietary supplements, emphasizing prevention through lifestyle choices. “If you eat well and you exercise regularly and you get regular sleep… everything is normal,” he said, adding in a light moment that he remains physically active and capable of exercise.
He ended the briefing by reaffirming his condition: “And I’m happy to say that I’m healthy.”
